The book I read was Percy Jackson and the Olympians The Sea of Monsters. Percy Jackson is in the 7th grade and this year has been very relaxing for him; no attacks from monsters or Gods. But that all changes on the last day of school when a regular dodge ball fight turns into a cannonball fight with a group of Cyclops. That’s when Percy, Annabeth, and his friend Tyson travel back to camp Half Blood. Now Percy and his friends travel on a quest to find the Golden Fleece in the sea of monsters to cure Thalia’s tree, poisoned by the half blood, Luke. The characters are very well done in this book. The characters really came alive. Percy was funny for the most part, but can get serious. Annabeth is very smart and makes sure Percy doesn’t get into a lot of trouble. Tyson is a Cyclops and claims to be Percy’s half brother. Luke is the one who betrayed Percy in book one and poisons Thalia’s tree. He was evil; he tried to make a huge monster eat Percy and his friends. Overall the characters are great. This book is one of the best books I’ve read this year. The chapters and events in the book are so entertaining; it just keeps you guessing what’s going to happen next. It’s a funny action packed book full of Greek Mythology; there’s one great adventure after another. Percy tells the story in a smart-alecky and funny way. The chapter titles are very amusing which keep things entertaining. I love the cliffhanger ending, and new characters tell you there is going to be another sequel.
